Wanda Kay Hiltgen, 66, Greenleaf, died July 14, 2020 at her home. The family received friends Friday, July 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greenleaf. A Vigil service followed at 6 p.m. with Father Joseph Kieffer officiating. Wanda was born on September 4, 1953 at Albany. GA to Herbert and Alma (Hersey) Strawder. She grew up in Georgia and graduated high school. She met the love of her life Larry, while he was stationed in Georgia, in the navy. They were married on January 8th, 1973. After his discharge from the Navy, they moved to Greenleaf. She worked as a cook at the Greenleaf Grade School for several years. After the school closed, she worked as a CMA at the Hanover Hospital and as an EMT. Wanda loved her family and was extremely close to her grandchildren. When they were small, she gave each one a nickname that stuck with them in their adult lives. Wanda liked visiting with friends and family and was proud of her southern roots. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Larry in 1992; father-in-law, Robert Hiltgen; brother-in-law, Jimmy Walker; and nephew, Rodney Walker. Survivors include her children, Kimberly Rockwell, Marysville, Jason (Jennifer) Hiltgen, Scotts Bluff, NE; five grandchildren, Baleigh (Chris) Bargmann, Karlee Rockwell, Addysyn Rockwell, Mallory Morton and Daniel Hiltgen; and one great grandchild, due any day; sister, Linda Walker; brothers, Hubert (Cynthia) Strawder, Tim (Lynda) Strawder, all of Georgia; mother-in-law, Gloria Hiltgen, Linn; brothers-in-law, Joe (Ruth) Hiltgen, Steven (Carol) Hiltgen, both of Greenleaf; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home in Washington.
