Timothy Eugene Gilliam, 94, of Greenleaf, Kansas, died Thursday, January 28, 2021 at his home. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greenleaf. A vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m., Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Private Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 1, at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Greenleaf. Timothy was born July 5, 1926, the 3rd child of Arthur and Margaret (Lynch) Gilliam. He spent nearly his entire life on the farm north of Greenleaf. Tim attended the nearby Logan country school and graduated from Greenleaf High School in May 1944. In October 1944, Tim enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was discharged in the summer of 1946 and returned to the family farm. He was also appointed substitute rural carrier and met Anna Marie Klee. Tim and Anna Marie wed in June 1952 and became parents to Peggy Ann, Timothy Brad, Michael Eugene, John Brent, Jerry Patrick, Kathy Marie, and Mary Beth. He was appointed postmaster at Greenleaf and retired in 1987 after 40 years of postal service. Tim then turned full time to his farming and ranching operation, which he dearly loved. Tim was devoted to his faith and was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greenleaf, Kansas, and St. Augustine Catholic Church in Washington, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Marie, an infant sister, Maxine, his sisters, Geraldine Schuessler and Kathleen Diederich, and his beloved aunts and uncles. He is survived by all seven of his children, their spouses, 26 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. A memorial fund is established to the Sacred Heart Window Fund.
