Scott A. Wilkens, age 58, of Washington, Kansas, died Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 20, at Zion Lutheran Church in Linn, Kansas.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cooper Canaday, Cameron Canaday, Cali Canaday, Nicholas Ost, Samantha Ost and Emery Torbol.

Scott was born February 22, 1968, in Hanover, Kansas, the son of Dwayne and Kaye (Hood) Wilkens. He attended Linn Lutheran School and graduated from Linn High School in 1986.

Following high school, Scott began working in sales and finance at Briggs Auto in Manhattan, Kansas, before moving to Little Apple Toyota. Around 2000, he established Midwest Outfitters in Washington County, combining his love of the outdoors with his entrepreneurial spirit. In 2012, he was approached about becoming a Channel Seed dealer, which led him to establish Midwest Seed Farms. As the business grew, he built a new facility north of Linn. In 2021, Scott sold the seed dealership and devoted his time primarily to farming and raising cattle until his declining health forced him to retire.

Scott had a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing and hunting with family, friends and clients. Through his outfitting business, he developed many lasting friendships with people who shared his love of hunting and the outdoors. Whether pursuing whitetail deer, pheasants, quail or turkeys, Scott enjoyed the experiences and friendships that came with each outing.

When he wasn't hunting or fishing, Scott could often be found mowing, tending to his animals or simply enjoying the warm weather. He took great pride in his farming and cattle operations and appreciated the opportunity to spend time outdoors. Scott was also a member of several outdoor and wildlife organizations and generously supported their efforts through donations.

Survivors include his three children, Chelsea Canaday (Cade) of Wichita, Kansas, Chase Wilkens of Junction City, Kansas, and Chandler Wilkens; three grandchildren, Cooper, Cameron and Cali Canaday; his parents, Dwayne and Kaye Wilkens of Linn; sister, Lisa Ost-Beikmann of Washington; nephew, Nicholas Ost of Hilton Head, South Carolina; and niece, Samantha Ost of Charleston, South Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Tom Ost.

A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, P.O. Box 157, Washington, KS 66968.
