Robert E. Kohlmeyer, 93, of Washington, KS, died Friday, May 28, 2021 at the Linn Community Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 5 at the Washington Christian Church in Washington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Bob was born May 23, 1928 in rural Washington County to Wilbur F. and Mabel (Stamm) Kohlmeyer. He attended Washington schools and graduated in 1946. He married Bonnie L. Anderson on January 21, 1951, in Greenleaf. Bob served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Riley and spent two years in Japan. When he was discharged, he returned to Washington and farmed west of Washington. At the age of 62, he retired and he and Bonnie bought and operated the Hen House Antique Store. Bob enjoyed attending auctions, short wave radios and watching boxing. He and Bonnie would go square dancing and enjoy playing pinochle with friends. Bob was a member of the Washington Christian Church and served on the school board. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Bonnie in 2020; and sister, Thelma Tegethoff. Survivors include two daughters, Connie Jo (Larry) Phelps, Abilene, KS, and Janet (John) Beckman, Salina, KS; two sons, Dale (Marci) Kohlmeyer and Robb (Annette) Kohlmeyer, all of Washington; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. A memorial fund is established to the Washington Christian Church or KSDS Assistance Dogs. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.
