Paul D. Hansen, age 98, of Greenleaf, Kansas, passed away on June 9, 2026, at Linn Community Nursing Home in Linn, Kansas.

A celebration will be held 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 14 at the Clubhouse in Greenleaf.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at 9:00 AM at Maplewood Cemetery with Military Honors by the Greenleaf Legion, Taps will be played by Granddaughter Maggie Wendorff.

Paul was born on March 11, 1928, in Greenleaf, Kansas, to Albert and Mae (Hanson) Hansen. He attended Maplewood School and graduated from Barnes High School in 1946. In fact, he recently attended his 80th Class Reunion at Barnes over Memorial Day weekend.

On January 14, 1967, he was united in marriage to Eileen Balch at the Barnes United Methodist Church. They made their home north of Greenleaf, where Paul spent his life farming and raising livestock. Together, they were blessed with a son and a daughter.

Paul was a dedicated farmer and stockman who took great pride in caring for the land and livestock. Being born on the family farm and a son, he learned the meaning of a full days work at a young age. Paul continued his whole life with a steadfast drive for working with the land. He was gifted with a love for manual labor and enjoyed all views from the seat of a tractor. Paul enjoyed watching sports, especially his grandkids in their many sporting activities. More than anything, he cherished time with his family. His grandchildren were the highlight of his life, and many fond memories were made during the “pop parties” they shared beneath the shade of a tree on the family farm. Paul’s extended Hansen family is numerous and he treasured visits with them whenever possible. He always looked forward to the annual Hansen Family Reunion over the 4th of July. In his final years, Paul enjoyed his Granddog Copper, whether they were napping in the chair or driving around the section. Most recently was the addition of Brigham’s horse Shorty which brought immense joy to Paul, especially when Brigham brought Shorty to the front door.

During his life, Paul was a member of several local community boards. He also served his country as a member of the National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Norman Hansen; sisters, Corrine Hansen and Dolores Werder: brothers in law, Bill Toler, Randy Anderson, and Frank Werder.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Eileen Hansen; son, Chris (Deb) Hansen of Greenleaf, KS; daughter, Amy (Greg) Bott of Palmer, KS; grandchildren, Maggie (Tyler) Wendorff, Brigham Hansen, Sophia Bott, Ethan Bott, Gretchen Bott, and Samuel Bott; sisters, Margy Toler of Kennewick, WA, Reeva Anderson of Wichita, KS, and Marilyn (Jim) Deckinger of Wichita, KS.
