Mary Alice Weber, 77, Barnes, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the Centennial Homestead Nursing Home, Washington.A funeral service was 10 a.m., Saturday, November 17 at the United Methodist Church in Barnes, KS. Pastor Dan Norwood officiated. Musicians were Judy Springer and Julie Weber. Music was “Amazing Grace,” “Coat of Many Colors” and “Dreamer Deceiver.” The family greeted friends one hour prior to the service at the church.Burial was in Washington City Cemetery.Mary was born at home in rural Barnes, to Ernest and Alma (Sewell) Finlayson on December 17, 1940. She graduated from Barnes High School. Mary worked for her father at Finlayson Sand and Gravel and in housekeeping and as a CAN, for over forty years, at the Homestead Nursing Home in Washington. Mary was an active member of the Barnes United Methodist Church and belonged to the Ladies of Barnes Methodist Church group. She belonged to the Rock and Gem Club and bowling leagues. Attending craft shows, sewing, making crafts and bowling, were some of Mary’s favorite pastimes. She especially enjoyed family get-togethers and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary was a very caring and loving person. Preceding her in death were her parents; infant son, Timothy Walter; sister, Ella Massey; step daughter, Beatrice Weber; and step granddaughter, Nicole Weber. Survivors include her husband, Martin; son, Chuck (Michelle) Walter; daughter, Tammy Kuehn, both of Washington; three step children, Martin Weber Jr., Hanover, Angela Weber, Salina, Thomas Weber, Greenleaf; sister Lois (Alvin) Wiechman, Salina; brother-in-law, Carl Massey, Washington; and six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; and seven step great grandchildren. A memorial fund is established to Meadowlark Hospice or the Barnes United Methodist Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, PO Box 157, Washington, Kansas 66968.
