Lorene Amanda Kenaston, 91, Linn, died Monday, March 27, 2023, at the Washington County Hospital, Washington, KS. Visitation was Saturday, April 1, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Linn. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 2, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Palmer. Burial was in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Palmer. Lorene was born on October 14, 1931, on the family farm west of Linn, to Henry and Amanda (Meyer) Struber. She was baptized at her home on October, 18, 1931. She attended McAtee school for her elementary education near her home and graduated from Linn High School in 1949, where she was Salutatorian of her class. Lorene was confirmed at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Palmer, Kansas. On August 21, 1949, Lorene and Robert Kenaston were married in a candlelight ceremony at the Zion Lutheran Church in Linn. They were blessed with four children and 67 Years of marriage. Lorene worked in the nursery at the St. Joseph Hospital in Concordia for a number of years. She was employed at the Linn Community Nursing Home as a medication and treatment aide and was an active member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. She served as President of Lutheran Women’s Circle Group, was a Sunday School teacher and a leader of the Junior Lutherans. She enjoyed helping to make quilts for Lutheran World Relief. Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kenaston; her parents; and her sister, Lila Schaefer. Survivors include a son, Mark Kenaston of Linn; daughters, Bonnie (Doug) Sanneman of Clay Center, Kathy (Terry) Oehmke, Salina, and Jane (David) Funke, Washington; seven grandchildren, Joel (Jackie) Sanneman, Lindsay (Ryan) Hiesterman, Derek Sanneman, Greg (Sarah) Oehmke, Erin (Rusty) Morgan, Kurt Funke and Brock Funke and eleven great grandchildren, Brayden, Breanne and Brylee, Sanneman, Owen, Lillie, Evie and Ike Hiesterman, Tegan, Brilyn and Laiken Oehmke and Gunnar Morgan ; and her sister, Lola Allerheiligen, Linn.
