Leland H. Lohmeyer

October 13, 1946 — September 3, 2023

Linn, KS

Leland Herman Lohmeyer peacefully went to heaven on September 3, 2023 at the age of 76 after suffering from pulmonary fibrosis.

 

Visitation was from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Zion Lutheran Church in Linn on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.

 

The funeral service followed at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Timothy Koch and Rev. Richard Lohmeyer officiating.  A luncheon immediately followed the church service.  

 

Burial was at 1:00 p.m., at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Linn. 

 

The Pallbearers were Doug Johnson, Matthew Menz, Stanton Lohmeyer, Stanton Uffman, Jason Uffman and Warren Buss.

 

Leland, was born October 13, 1946 to Herman and Ella (Uffman) Lohmeyer and was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church at Linn, KS on October 29, 1946 and confirmed in his Christian faith on April 10, 1960. He attended Zion Lutheran School in Linn for eight years and in 1964 he graduated from Linn Rural High School.

 

Leland was always a farmer at heart. Following high school, he and his father farmed together and ran a dairy operation. Following his father’s retirement, he continued to operate the family farm.

 

When not farming, he enjoyed traveling with his sister Ellie and brother-in-law Lynn. They had many adventures. They enjoyed trips together to Montana, the Grand Canyon, Arizona, Indiana, Missouri, California, Iowa and Maui, Hawaii. Two of his favorite trips were mission trips to Pasadena, CA where he worked as a Petal Pusher and helped decorate floats for Lutheran Hour Ministries and attended the Rose Parade. On those trips, he served the homeless on Skid Row in inner city Los Angeles and also served on a mission team in Tijuana, Mexico.

 

Leland loved to watch westerns and it was a special treat for him to have his picture taken with Roy Rogers, Jr while in Branson, MO after attending the Roy Rogers show. He was also an avid Kansas State sports fan and enjoyed antique tractor and car shows. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Men’s Club for many years.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Ella Lohmeyer, brother-in-law Jim Johnson and many aunts, uncles and relatives.

 

He is survived by four sisters:  Ellanita (Ellie) and Lynn Menz, Jefferson, IA; Freda and Dan Howard, Libby, MT; Eldana Kopecky, Zionsville, IN and Elvera Johnson, Laconia, IN; 2 nephews, 5 nieces, and neighbors and friends.

 

A memorial fund has been established and the family will determine its designation. Contributions can be sent to Ward Funeral Home, Washington, KS.
