Jimmy J. Parrack, 76, Washington, died Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2025, at Ward Funeral Home in Washington.  The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

A funeral service was held at 3 p.m., Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Washington Christian Church in Washington. Pastor Eli Sweany officiated. Music selections included “Amazing Grace” and “Wind Beneath My Wings.”

Pallbearers were Scott Bokelman, Denny Ohlde, Alan Ohlde, Paul Monty, Les Gauby, and Ron Nutz. Honorary pallbearers were Brent Bokelman, Todd Bruna, and Karl Tiemeyer.

Military Honors were conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard and Greenleaf American Legion Post #235.

Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery.

Jim was born September 12, 1948, in Belleville to Vaughn and Avalene (Slavik) Parrack. He grew up around and attended school at Haddam, graduating from Haddam High School in 1967. He was part of the last graduating class from that school.

He was drafted to serve in the U.S. Army as part of the Military Selective Service Act. He was honorably discharged in 1970. After returning home, he attended NCK Vo-Tech in Beloit, studying diesel mechanics. Jim went to work for the John Deere dealership as a mechanic in Washington. He worked as a mechanic for Ohlde Tractor and as a mechanic at Northern Natural Gas for eight years. He retired from KDOT after thirteen years.

Jim was united in marriage to Jolene Montague on June 19, 1971, in Washington, and to this union, two sons were born, Chad and Brad.

He enjoyed gardening and was an active member of the Wholmoor American Legion Post #237 in Linn, dedicating his time where he was needed.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Roger, in 2010; and his father and mother-in-law.

Survivors include his wife, Jolene; sons, Chad (Trisha) Parrack, Riley, Brad (Melinda) Parrack, Washington; sister-in-law, Retha Parrack, Fairbury, NE; and four grandchildren, Kaden (and girlfriend, Evelynn) Parrack, Kyleigh Parrack, Mindy (Bob) Shortle, and Austin Parrack; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial fund is established to the Linn American Legion Post #237. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington, KS
