Jane Ross

Sara Jane Ross, 80, Meriden, formerly of Washington, died Sunday, April 9, 2023 at the Kelly House in Meriden. The funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 15 at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor Debbie Senters officiated. Music included "Some Where Over the Rainbow", "Amazing Grace" and "Heaven’s Garden." The pallbearers were Gary Stone, Blake Ross, Austin Marshall, Dennis Oehmke, Alan Oehmke, Jason Jeschke, Kasey Gill, Ricky Duke and Josh Dankenbring. Burial was in the Parallel Cemetery near Clifton, KS. Jane was born on June 22, 1942 in Clay Center, KS to Charles and Velma (Gabbert) Lakin. In 1960, she graduated from Burdett High School in Burdett, KS. On August 19, 1961, she married Robert E. Ross at Clifton, KS. Jane worked for the Washington County Appraiser from which she retired. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Jane always enjoyed family and doing arts and crafts. She especially enjoyed having craft projects for the grandkids when they came to visit. She truly enjoyed being Grandma Jane. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in 2013; and sister, Mary Ann Van Dusen. Survivors include her sons, Robert J. (Megan) Ross, Newton, KS, and Michael (Janell) Ross, Meridian, KS; daughters, Nan Ross, Kansas City, and Nori (Kurtis) Gill, El Reno, OK; twelve grandchildren, Joshua Dankenbring, Emily Ross, Mollee Smith, Maggee Smith, Graycee Ross, Jorgee Ross, Addie (Ricky) Duke , Morgan (Austin) Marshall , Kasey Gill, Courtney (Jason) Jeschke , Blake Ross and Caitlyn Ross; and three great-grandchildren, Rylee Jeschke, Finley Marshall and Avery Marshall. A memorial fund is established to Elara Hospice, 901 NE River Road, Topeka, KS 66616. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
