James Hogan

James Eugene Hogan, 68, of Greenleaf, KS, passed away on May 1, 2024, on the Hogan family farm in Kimeo, KS.

Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 17, at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Kimeo. 

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 7, at Saint Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Kimeo.  Father David Metz officiated.  

James was born on September 2, 1955 in Washington, Kansas. He was the ninth child of Austin and Mary Louise (Hoover) Hogan. He graduated from Linn High School, Linn, Kansas, where he drove a school bus during his senior year. He then attended the Beloit Vocational School, studying auto body mechanics, where he won an award for his work. 

Jimmy never met a stranger and was a friend to all who knew him. He was kind and generous with his time and talents.  

Jimmy's career began driving the school bus for Linn High School and supporting the Hogan Family Christmas Tree Farm. He excelled in work with automotive restoration and paint. He was skilled in a variety of machinery and manufacturing in diverse industries.  

Jim loved serving others from veterans to supporting the Kimeo community and St. Michael's church. Jimmy loved his grandkids and extended family. His kind heart and love of a good story will be missed by all. 

Survivors include his former wife Diann Elliott and stepchildren Tom Elliott (Lina) and daughter Kailin of Norfolk, Nebraska, Denise (Deist) Hertz and children Makenna, Aviana and Dax, Washington, Kansas and Amy Elliott and Elijah of Washington, Kansas, siblings Margaret (Edward) Boyd, Phoenix, Arizona, Lawrence (Sally) Hogan, Hendersonville, North Carolina, Virginia (Thomas) Sekinger, Annandale, Virginia, Robert (Pam) Hogan, Hendersonville, North Carolina and Harold (Ginger) Hogan, Topeka, Kansas and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Pat Klozenbucher, Mary Louise Milks and Ruth Marie Hogan and brothers-in-law Duane Klozenbucher and Bob Milks. 

A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.  Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
