Elizabeth "Betty" Prellwitz

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (Brungardt) Prellwitz, age 88, of Morrowville, Kansas, died September 23, 2026, at Eagle Crest Retirement Community in Salina, Kansas.

A rosary service will begin at 4 p.m., Sunday, September 27, at Ward Funeral Home, followed by visitation from 4:30 to 8 p.m. with family receiving friends until 6 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 28, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Washington. Father David Metz will officiate.

The pallbearers will be Jordan Blackburn, Nick Koch, Jonah Blackburn, Derek Graff, Hannah Blackburn, Brandon Alldredge and Elaine Prellwitz.

Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, north of Morrowville, Kansas.

Betty was born September 14, 1938, at Morrowville, Kansas to Bernard “Ben” and Isabell “Issie” (Linenberger) Brungardt. She grew up in the Washington area and graduated from Washington High School.

On September 22, 1956, Betty was united in marriage to LeRoy Prellwitz. Betty devoted many years to being a homemaker and raising their family. After her youngest child started school, she began working as a seamstress at Kellwood in Fairbury, Nebraska, which later became Swingster Company. She worked there for more than 20 years, primarily sewing coats and jackets.

Betty enjoyed the simple things in life. In her younger years, she enjoyed going to card parties and attending dances in Morrowville. She liked being outdoors, whether she was pulling weeds or picking up sticks around the yard and garden. As she got older, she enjoyed playing bingo and putting together puzzles.

She also had a sweet tooth and especially enjoyed cookies, candy, ice cream and black licorice. It was a real treat for family when she made her fudge rolls. She had beautiful natural curls and a sweet smile. Classic country and polka music were another favorite.

Family was an important part of Betty’s life. She treasured spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and made many special memories with them over the years. She always made sure the kids had plenty of opportunities to go fishing, even carting them out to the fishing hole where Dad was so she could enjoy a little quiet time of her own. She also made swimming lessons memorable, filling bread bags with popcorn for the kids to take along and enjoy.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Prellwitz; parents, Ben and Issie Brungardt; siblings, Robert (Dona) Brungardt, Larry Brungardt, and Clair (Spencer) Blenderman; brother-in-law, David Bridges; son-in-law, Mike Graff; grandson, Jonathan Graff; and great-grandson, Harrison Graff.

Survivors include her children, Debi Graff, Susie Koch, Sandy (Don) Alldredge, Andy (Debbie) Prellwitz, Cyndi (David) Blackburn and Amy (Kris) Fagan; siblings, Judy Bridges, Jerry (Sandi) Brungardt and Dennis (Chris) Brungardt; sister-in-law, Karen Brungardt; 19 grandchildren, Wendy, Sarah, Brandon, Josh, Justin, Elaine, Jake, Derek, Jordan, Nick, Alex, Jessica, Jonah, Elizabeth, Nicole, Hannah, Emily, Jed and Mindy; 39 great-grandchildren; Brent, Everlie, Amayah, Macy, Lucy, Claire, Emma, Isabelle, Elinor, Ethan, Chloe, Brooklyn, Brayden, Brynn, Raegan, Ryleigh, Renlee, Eli, Easton, Emmett, Hannah, Alorah, Emerson, Rylee, Jaxson, Tucker, Autumn, Bentley, Adalynn, Jada, Kalan, Rowen, Damya, Miles, Natalie, Kennedi, Connor, Carson, and Chandler; and many other relatives and friends.
