Donald B. Tegethoff

Donald Bruce Tegethoff, 72, of Washington, Kansas, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, in Washington.

Don was born on July 30, 1954, in Washington, to H.J. “Butch” and Thelma Tegethoff. He graduated from Washington High School in 1972. While attending Cloud County Community College, Don met the love of his life, Debra. The two were united in marriage on June 29, 1973, in Mankato, Kansas, and shared 53 years of marriage.

He was a lifelong farmer, dedicating his career to the land he loved and the community he called home. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Over the years, Don was also a member of the Masons, a Shriner, and the Washington Saddle Club.

Those who knew Don will remember him for his happy-go-lucky spirit and his young-at-heart personality. He never knew a stranger and was always ready for an adventure. Don had a way of making people feel welcome and was known for his easygoing nature, love of people, and love of a good Western. He cherished his family and the many memories made along the way.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Tegethoff; son, Corey (Andrea) Tegethoff; daughters, Christi (Jeff) Claycamp and Heidi (Derrick) Richling; grandchildren, Dylan Au, Malorie Tegethoff, Kendal Tegethoff, Natalie Claycamp, Nicole Claycamp, Tucker Claycamp, Tyson Richling, and Carter Richling; great-grandson, Jett Nelson; sister, Joan (Jeff) Kugler; mother-in-law, Pauline Robinson; sister-in-law, Tammy (Arlan) Reed; step brother-in-law, Ryan Robinson; step sister-in-law, Stephanie Schmeck; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, H.J. “Butch” and Thelma Tegethoff; sister, Gail Jones; father-in-law, Charles Noble; step father-in-law, Ken Robinson; and brothers-in-law, Harold Jones and Harlen Noble.

Don will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kind heart, adventurous spirit, and happy-go-lucky smile will live on in the many lives he touched.

Visitation was held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., August 29, at Ward Funeral Home in Washington, with the family present. Burial followed at approximately 5:30 p.m. at Washington City Cemetery.
