Delmar E. Hatesohl, age 96, of Linn, Kansas, died August 18, 2026, at his home.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 23, from 4-7 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Linn, with the family receiving friends during that time.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 24, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, southwest of Greenleaf. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Delmar Edward Hatesohl was born September 19, 1929 at Linn, Kansas to Ernest and Rosa Hatesohl. He died at home August 18, 2026. He grew up on the family farm outside of Linn with his 3 brothers, Lowell, Willard, and Melvin.
Delmar attended Bell School, Bethlehem School and Linn High School. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1951, where he was student editor of the K-State Collegian and a member of the Air Force ROTC. He received an MS from the University of Missouri, and PhD from Oklahoma State University in Agriculture Economics.
Delmar married LaVerna Joy Lange in 1954 in Palmer, Kansas. They moved to Columbia, Missouri where Delmar joined the University of Missouri Ag Editors office. He spent 31 years at the University of Missouri as a professor of ag journalism and extension education. He received numerous student advisory awards, developed the University of Missouri guide system, and coauthored Food for the 21st Century, a critical project for the university. He served as President of the American Association of Agricultural College Editors. Upon retirement he worked as associate director of MIAC and did consulting assignments in Somalia, Liberia, Pakistan and Kenya.
In 1987, Delmar and LaVerna moved back to Linn, where he was active in the Linn Booster Club and Wholmoor American Legion. He spent much time planting and caring for trees in the community. Delmar and LaVerna traveled extensively in retirement. He traveled to more than 50 countries, but throughout life he was always proud to call Washington County, Kansas home.
As an ROTC graduate, Delmar entered active service in the Air Force and served in the Air Force Reserve for 26 years, retiring as Lt. Col.
In Columbia, Delmar served as a congregational officer and Sunday school teacher at Trinity Lutheran and Campus Lutheran churches. Upon their return to Linn, Delmar & LaVerna were members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Delmar was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, LaVerna; and his parents, brothers and sisters-in-law, He is survived by son, Kent Hatesohl (Brenda), Lawrence, KS; daughter Beth Hatesohl, Spring, Tx; grandchildren Brian Hatesohl (Laura), Laura McLaughlin (Richard), Chris Mosher, Tyler Hatesohl (Jordan), 5 great grandchildren, and several nephews and niece.
In lieu of flowers and to honor Delmar, memorial contributions can be made to Wholmoor American Legion or Bethlehem Lutheran Church in care of Ward Funeral Home, 115 W. 2nd St., Washington, KS 66968..
