Della M. Goldsberry

March 24, 1944 — August 25, 2023

Della Marie (Applegarth) Golsberry, 79, Washington, peacefully ended her earthly journey on August 25, 2023, at Whispering Winds Cottage in Beatrice, NE with her family at her side.

A funeral service in honor of Della’s life was held at 10 A.M., August 30, 2023, at Morrowville Christian Church in Morrowville, KS.

Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. 

Della was born on March 24, 1944, the next to youngest of the fourteen children born to John and Ruby (Boston) Applegarth of rural Morrowville.  She attended Morrowville High School, where she met the love of her life, Steve Goldsberry.  Steve and Della graduated in 1962 and were united in marriage later that year.  To this union were born 6 children, 14 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. 

Della was a lifetime member of the Morrowville Christian Church and spent her entire adult life in devoted service to the Lord, her marriage and her family.  She will be remembered as a gentle spirit who was sensitive to the needs of others, providing comfort and encouragement at every opportunity.

Della was preceded in death by her infant son, Gary, by her parents, parents-in-law, a great-grandchild, and many of her siblings and their spouses.

Survivors include her husband Steve Goldsberry and children Janice (Don) Barber, Debra (Larry) Junker, Brenda (Alfred) Poley, Matthew Goldsberry, and Joni (Brad) Palmer.  Other survivors include sister Dorothy (Donald) Kershner, brother Fred (Marilyn) Applegarth, sister Wilma (Bob) Thompson, sister-in-law Caroline Applegarth, brother-in-law Herb Wenger, sister-in-law Sherrill (Bob) Siefken, brother-in-law Alan (Gwen) Goldsberry, as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, multiple nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and special thanks to the staff at Whispering Winds Cottage and Cottonwood Hospice for the compassionate care provided in Della's final days.

A memorial fund has been established to benefit the Morrowville Christian Church, and the family is requesting that donations be made to this memorial in lieu of flowers.  Contributions to the fund may be sent to Ward Funeral Home or to Steve Goldsberry, Whispering Winds Cottage, 628 N 33rd St., Beatrice, NE 68310.
