Bonnie L. Kohlmeyer, 89, of Washington, KS, died Friday, March 20, 2020 at the Washington County Hospital in Washington. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 25 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. A private funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 25 at the Washington Christian Church. Rev. Jim Stark will officiate. Bonnie was born March 2, 1931 at Concordia, KS, to Leon G. and Ellen (McClaughry) Anderson. She grew up in Greenleaf, KS, and graduated from Greenleaf High School. On January 21, 1951, she married Robert E. Kohlmeyer in Greenleaf. After the marriage, they moved while Robert served in the U.S. Army. When they returned, they made their home west of Washington on Highway 36. Bonnie didn’t know a stranger and was very much a people person. She was a farm wife and would help Robert. Bonnie also worked for her father-in-law at Portable Cab and later operated Hen House Antiques in Washington. She enjoyed coffee with several groups of friends, traveling and being on the go. Bonnie was a member of the Washington Christian Church and Coteri. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Kohlmeyer; two daughters, Connie Jo (Larry) Phelps, Abilene, KS, and Janet (John) Beckman, Salina, KS; two sons, Dale (Marci) Kohlmeyer and Robb (Annette) Kohlmeyer, all of Washington; brother, Jerry Anderson, Topeka, KS; sister, Marilyn Waterman, Greenleaf, KS; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. A memorial fund is established to the Washington Christian Church or KSDS. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home. Funeral Service for Bonnie L.
