Ermon "Gib" Gibson

Ermon E. “Gib” Gibson, 85, died Thursday, November 25 at the Homestead Nursing Home in Washington. A funeral service was held 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 29, at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. The Rev. Judy Hill officiated. Sheila Ouellette was the organist and the congregation sang "Amazing Grace." A recording of Dr. James Smart singing "How Great Thou Art" and "Beautiful Garden of Prayer" was played. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Garry keeler, Bob Dusin, Kenneth Schoen and Gary Stamm. Honorary bearers were Charles Foster and Dale Wells. Gib was born February, 25, 1925 at rural Oketo to Elvin J. and Anna (Remmers) Gibson. He graduated from the Oketo High School in 1943 and entered the Marines in June of 1943. He was united in marriage to Mildred H. Lampe on August 24, 1963. They adopted an eight year old girl, Bridget Leigh in 1970. Gib was employed for 5 years in the Marshall County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service at Marysville. He then served 26 years as the Executive Director in the Washington County ASCS office. He retired in 1981, completing 31 years of service in agriculture. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Millie on May 14, 2006. Surviving him is his daughter, Bridget Weyer of Colorado Springs; two granddaughters, Kylie and Jenna; and a great grandson, Gage. A memorial fund has been established to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Washington. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
