James L. Buchanan

James L. Buchanan James Lee Buchanan, 54, Kansas City, Mo., died Sept. 8, 2006. Buchanan was born Aug. 6, 1952, in Sterling, the son of Tom and Christine Buchanan. His family moved to Washington, Kan., when he was seven, and he graduated from Washington High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from Washburn University. He held a variety of jobs over the years, including as disc jockey at radio stations in Pratt, Wichita and Topeka. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas "Buckshot" Buchanan. Survivors include his mother, Washington; and siblings Tom, Leawood; Jean, St. Louis; Bruce, Hutchinson; and Beth, Wesley Chapel, Fla. A graveside service and inurnment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Washington City Cemetery, the Rev. Phil Morris officiating. Memorials to Washington County Hospital.
