Eunice Ida (Diller) Dickson, 99, of Washington, KS, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the Homestead Nursing Home in Washington. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 29, at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor John Frey officiated. Gay Lynn Manning played the organ while Dr. Jim Smart sang "In The Garden" and "I Know Who Holds My Hand". Pallbearers were Keith Balthazor, Anthony Stamm, Gary Dusin, Rick Johnson, Mike Manning and Mike Graham. Burial was in the Morrowville Cemetery. Eunice was born September 27, 1910, near Morrowville, KS, the daughter of Frank and Ida (Dewey) Diller. She lived in Washington County her entire life and worked in the laundry department at the Washington County Hospital until retiring. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and cooking pies for local cafes and the fair. Eunice was a baptized member of the Christian Church. Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Diller; husband, William Donald Dickson in 1975; and one daughter-in-law. Survivors include four children, June Basel and husband George of Abilene, KS, Betty Hagelbarger of Claremont, CA, William Dickson and wife Ronda of Clyde, KS, and Robert Dickson of Bendena, KS; eight grandchildren, Don Basel and wife Cindy of Hays, KS, Gary Basel and wife Mary of Abilene, KS, Larry Basel and wife Nancy of Solomon, KS, Terri Riojas and husband Ray of Claremont, CA, Viki Marshburn and husband David of LaHarbra Heights, CA, Brandi Schneider and husband Shane of Culver, KS, Jamie Grover and husband Scott of Bennington, KS, and Dean Dickson and wife Helen of Bendena, KS; thirteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; four step great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be sent in care of St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
