October 7, 1945 — February 15, 2018

Danny Roger Schoen, Parsons, died February 15, 2018, at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. A graveside funeral service will be held, 11 a.m., Saturday, March 3, at the Washington City Cemetery, Washington. Danny was born October 7, 1945 in Diller, Neb. to Herman Henry and Catherine (Fanders) Schoen. He knew what it was like to be humble, as he became ill at a very young age and his life was drastically changed. It was apparent that his needs were beyond the capability of his family, and he lived at KNI for 30 years and Twin Valley for over a year, before moving to Living Skills of Saint Paul. In 1998, Danny moved into a home, managed by Res Care, that he shared with others, in Parsons.Danny made many good friends. They were all good people with love in their hearts, and made the best of each day for him. He loved babies, animals, his family and his friends. Danny admired fancy cars, motorcycles and Batman. He had a great sense of humor and loved joking and teasing others. Danny liked going for walks, dances, bowling and any outdoor activities. Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Geraldine Kozak; brother Gayle Schoen; and brothers-in-law, Bill McCarty and Glen Howland. He is survived by sisters, Arlene McCarty, Whitwell, Tenn., Dixie (Elwood) Jones, Greenville, NC, Shirrolyn Howland, Shawnee; brothers, Gary (Patricia) Schoen, Mentone, Ala., Kenneth (Mary Jane) Schoen, Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his housemates and many friends in Parsons. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.
