Lucille Zabokrtsky, 79, Washington, died Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Centennial Homestead Nursing Home, Washington. Visitation was Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 1 until 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A graveside funeral service was at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 15, at Washington City Cemetery, Washington. Pastor Jim Stark officiated. “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” and “How Great Thou Art” was played. Pallbearers were Eric Dietz, Jason Smith, Kurt Hayman, Dave Kraus, Collin Tegtmeier, Scott Najarian, Ray Zabokrtsky, Erik Zabokrtsky, Dain Zabokrtsky and Dustin Zabokrtsky. Honorary pallbearers were Tiffany Hayman, Amy Kraus, Monica Smith, Tandi Dietz, Rachel Tegtmeier, Denise McVaugh,, Heather Zabokrtsky, Jessica Rogge and Chelsey Herrs. Lucille was born on April 22, 1938 in Washington to Earl Thomas and Vennie (Palmer) Woods. She graduated from Washington High School. On September 10, 1955, Lucille married LeRoy Zabokrtsky at Fairbury, Neb. They had four sons, Charles, Thomas, Lee and Daniel. Lucille was a homemaker. When LeRoy died in 1996, she worked in the laundry department at the nursing home, for several years. She attended and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Washington. Lucille studied family genealogy and attended all the family functions. You would find her at garage sales on weekends and she enjoyed playing Bingo. Lucille was busy with crafts, quilting and sewing. Family was very important to her. She liked attending her grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events. Lucille always had a smile for everyone, she was very sociable, involved with her community and just enjoyed being with her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, LeRoy; ten siblings; and grandson, Derek Zabokrtsky. Survivors include sons, Charles (Diane) Zabokrtsky, Lincoln, Neb., Thomas (Marsha) Zabokrtsky, Clay Center; Lee (Diana) Zabokrtsky, Lincoln, Neb., Daniel (Rox Anne) Zabokrtsky, Washington; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A memorial fund is established to be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
