Elden "Dobie" Wiechmann

Elden "Dobie" R. Wiechmann, 77, of Linn, Kan., died January 19, 2018 at Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, Kan. Visitation was Sunday, January 21 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Linn. A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 22 at Zion Lutheran Church in Linn. Pastor David Gruoner officiated. Eunice Beier was organist and the congregation sang "Amazing Grace," " I Am But a Stranger Here" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." Pallbearers were Royce Kolle, Randy Meyer, Que Meyer, Brady Meyer, Cody Meyer and Denny Ohlde. Burial was in the church cemetery. Dobie was born on November 12, 1940 near Linn to William and Ella (Dittmer) Wiechmann. He attended Zion Lutheran School. He worked most of his life as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He worked for Hall Brothers in Marysville. Dobie enjoyed collecting hit and miss engines and would go to shows and demonstrate them along with small rock crushers. Survivors include his special friend, Wyona Johnson, Manhattan; along with other friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Loren, Delmer and infant Vernon. A memorial fund has been established to Zion Lutheran Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
