Loyd O. Oelschlager

Loyd O. Oelschlager, 85, of Greenleaf, KS, died September 1, 2009 at his home. A funeral service was held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 5, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church near Greenleaf. Pastor Chris LaBoube officiated. Arlene Miller played the organ. Burial was in the church cemetery. Loyd was born November 25, 1923 near Linn, Kansas, the son of Otto William and Louise Fredericka (Bartels) Oelschlager. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and farmed for a short time east of Greenleaf. He retired from the Farmers Coop in Greenleaf, where he worked several years. Loyd was a member of the American Legion Post 235 where he was very active and helped serve dinners at the Legion. He also enjoyed going to farm sales. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his sister, Eileen H. Pacha and husband Albert of Marysville; and niece, Sharon Wohler and family. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated by the family at a later time. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
