Dorothy L. Neu, 94, of Washington, KS, died January 21, 2017, at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was Tuesday, from noon until 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 25, at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. Rev. Jim Stark officiated. Gay Lynn Manning was pianist and Carla Stark sang “Amazing Grace,” “In the Garden” and “How Great Thou Art.” Pallbearers were Ryan Kern, Jerry Baker, Paul Stewart, Daren Stewart, Doug Lemaster and Fred Lemaster. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Dorothy was born October 1, 1922 at Forrest City, AR to William and Winnie (Patterson) Ledbetter. On February 24, 1945, she married Clyde W. Neu at Little Rock, AR. Dorothy earned her Bachelor Degree in Education in Arkansas. She and Clyde made the move from Searcy, AR to Washington on July 20, 1969, with a three-car caravan and a trailer. Dorothy taught school at Washington and retired in 1984. She was a member of the Washington Christian Church and Coteri. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge, and traveling with friends. Dorothy spent several winters in Florida with her brother, Carl. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clyde; brothers, Tommy Ledbetter and Carl Ledbetter; and sisters, infant, Anita Ledbetter and Marilyn Stubbs. Survivors include her son, Richard (Judy) Neu, Lincoln, NE; two sisters-in-law, Betty Neu, Washington, KS, and Doris (Fred) Lemaster, Tulsa, OK; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Christian Church and sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
