Mike Zenger, 64, Washington, died Tuesday, October 11, 2016. Visitation was held Friday, October 14, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Washington. Pastor Judy Hill officiated. Sheila Ouellette was organist and the congregation sang, "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art" and " Shall We Gather at the River." Pallbearers were Taylor Stelter, Zachary Stelter, Charlie Sullivan, Samantha Sullivan, Todd Zenger and Corey Zenger. Honorary pallbearers were Floyd Else, Larry Hughes, Bob Buehler, Jerry Fuhrken, Larry Alldredge and Ron Nutz. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Mike was born on June 29, 1952 at Belleville, KS, to Johnnie and O’Leta (Lightle) Zenger. He grew up in Haddam and graduated from North Central High in Morrowville, KS, and attended Beloit Vo-Tech. On February 19, 1983 he married Ruth Ann (Imhoff) Tremblay at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Washington, where he became an active baptized member. As a young man Mike worked on the Assembly line for Ford Motor Company in Oklahoma. He spent the past 35 years working for local elevators applying farm chemicals throughout Washington County. Mike lived on the farm north of Washington. Hobbies included gardening, watching KU basketball, and sports, visiting with family and friends, and telling stories. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann; children, Melissa (Tim) Sullivan, Olathe, and Tyler Tremblay, Manhattan; four grandchildren, Samantha Sullivan, Charlie Sullivan, Taylor Stelter, and Zach Stelter; mother, O’Leta Zenger, Haddam; and siblings, Richard (Sheirl) Zenger, Belleville, Allen (Shirley) Zenger, Reynolds, NE, Karen (Ron) Nutz, Haddam, and Debbie Stanton, Morrowville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Denice Zenger; brother-in-law, James Stanton; and a great-grandson, Sailor Sichta. A memorial fund has been established at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Washington, KS. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington, KS.
