Frances M. Schnelle, 106, of Washington, KS, died Monday, August 8, 2016 at the Washington County Hospital. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 13 at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. The family began receiving friends at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Marilyn Sweet officiated. The hymns "Old Rugged Cross" and "The Lord's Prayer" were played. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Frances was born March 19, 1910 at Marshall, OK, to John C. and Ollie (Stoker) Bryson. On July 19, 1932, she married Walter Schnelle at Perry, OK. In 1974, they moved to Washington. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and served as District President of the Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of the Washington County Extension Council, Easter Star for over 75 years, was a 4H leader, Fidelia Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and was a IFYE Exchange Student host. Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Schnelle; and son-in-law, James Snyder. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Snyder, Wichita; three grandchildren, Richard (Dawn) Snyder, David (Lora) Snyder, and Deborah (Zachary) Balentine; and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to the Washington County Hospital. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
