Louise Johnson, 88, Washington, died Friday, July 22, 2016 at the Centennial Homestead Nursing Home. Visitation was from noon until 8 p.m., Thursday, July 28 at the Ward Funeral Home, Washington. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Washington Christian Church. Rev Jim Stark officiated. Gay Lynn Manning was the organist and Ruth Finlayson sang “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” and “Heaven Came Down and Glory Filled My Soul.” The congregation sang “Victory in Jesus.” Pallbearers were George Cecrle, Malcolm Stamm, Kevin Keller, Lee Pifer, Mike Manning and Floyd Else. Honorary pallbearers were Stanford Stamm, Bob Kohlmeier and Norman Stewart. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Emma Louise was born January 2, 1928 to Benjamin and Mary (Watson) Barnes at Colby, KS. The family moved to Dalhart, TX in 1929 where she attended school, graduating from Dalhart High School in 1945. She went to Kansas State University and graduated in 1949. On July 25, 1949, Louise was united in marriage to Don Beeman and they were blessed with three boys, Terry, Fred and Gary. Don preceded her in death March 25, 1961. Louise married Richard Johnson on August 12, 1962, he survives. Louise was a member of the Washington Christian Church and the Coterie. She enjoyed quilting, cross stitch, knitting, puzzles and playing bridge. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. Preceding her in death were her parents; first husband, Don; brother, George Barnes; and sister, Mary Frances Bruton. Survivors include her husband, Ric; sons, Terry (Nancy) Beeman, Topeka, Fred Beeman, Fair Oaks, CA, Gary (Jan) Beeman, Dallas, TX; six grandchildren, Jill Beeman, Katie Boling, Neil Beeman, Amy Grant, Allison Beeman and Reilly Beeman; and three great grandchildren, Presley Grant, Parker Boling and Reese Boling. A memorial fund has been established to the Manhattan Christian College and contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
