Robert Eugene “Admiral” Walter, the son of Clarence and Alice Donohue Walter was born January 20, 1951 at Belleville, Kansas. He died April 5, 2006 at his home in Washington, Kansas at the age of 55. Bob attended school in Washington and graduated from Washington High School in 1969. Upon graduation from high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Bob returned to Washington where he became an owner operator of his truck and contracted his trucking business to several trucking companies in the Washington area. He also worked for the Washington City Power Plant. Bob was a lifetime member of the American Legion and lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard “Auggie” Walter and one sister Nancy Janice Walter in infancy. He is survived by two brothers, Donald and John Walter both of Washington, Kansas; four sisters, Ann Hawk of Washington, Sara Russell of Kansas City, Missouri, Connie Snyder of Washington and Margaret Werner and husband Max of Beatrice, Nebraska; one sister-in-law, Rosa Lee Walter of Washington; 15 nephews, 13 nieces, 16 great nephews and 15 great nieces. Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 13, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ward Funeral Home in Washington with Dr. Rex Fuller officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Washington City Cemetery with military graveside services provided by Fort Riley Honor Guard. A memorial has been established.
