Mildred Ayres, 96, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Cambridge Nursing Home in Marysville. A graveside funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 5 at the Greenleaf Cemetery. Pastor Randy Jellison-Knock officiated. Mildred was born August 29, 1912 at Campbell, NE, the daughter of Lydia Wagoner and Henry Hohlfeld. She graduated from Campbell High School and worked part-time at the family drug store in Campbell. On October 4, 1936, she married Glenn Ayres and moved to Greenleaf, KS. She was a homemaker and worked part-time at the family grocery store. Survivors include one son, Keith Ayres and wife Karen; one granddaughter, Kaitlin Nunn and husband Seth; and one great-granddaughter, Danielle Nunn, all of Greenleaf. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; parents; sister, Leola Hohlfeld; and brother, Walter Hohlfeld. A memorial fund has been established to the Greenleaf Library.
