Eunice W. Allen, 94, Morrowville, died Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Washington County Hospital. Visitation was Sunday, 3 to 8 p.m., May 8, 2016 at the Ward Funeral Home Washington. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 9, at the Morrowville Christian Church. Rev. Ron Brown officiated. Sheila Ouellette was the organist and accompanied Ed Durst and John Durst as they sang "One Day at a Time," "Go Rest High on That Mountain" and "Fill My Cup." The pallbearers were Louis Carter, Steve Goldsberry, Rusty Nanninga, Brandon Lee, Travis Lee and Eric Dawson. Burial was in the Morrowville Cemetery. Eunice was born on September 22, 1921 at Idana, KS, to Clayton and Annabelle (Robby) Lee. After graduating from high school she took normal training and became a school teacher. She taught over twelve years for area country schools. On July 31, 1950, Eunice was united in marriage to Donald “Bud” Allen at her parents’ home in Idana. They farmed in the Morrowville area. Eunice was a member of the Idana Presbyterian Church and in 1973, Eunice became a member of the Morrowville Christian Church. She taught Sunday school, bible school and served on the funeral dinner committee. She belonged to the Willing Workers, Christian Endeavors, Triple L Extension Unit, Rock Dorcus Club, Morrowville PTA and Morrowville Community Club. Eunice like to sew and quilt, read, cook and work daily crosswords. Her family was especially important and loved spending time with them. She also enjoyed seeing her former students or her “kids” as she referred to them. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald “Bud” in 1996; son-in-law, Roy Grover; and brothers, Roy Lee and Harold Lee. Survivors include her daughter, LeAnn Grover, Morrowville; grandson, Scott (Becky) Grover; and two great grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.
