Mary Louise “Lu” (Hogan) Milks, 73, passed away Saturday March 5, 2016, at the North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Missouri. She was born March 10, 1942, in Kimeo, Kansas, to Austin James and Mary Louise (Hoover) Hogan. She attended Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas where she met her husband, Bobby Milks of Parsons, KS. On August 11, 1962 she married Bobby Milks at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kimeo. Mrs. Milks' career led her to working for the Olathe School District, where she worked 20 years in various roles in the Library and Counseling Office. The couple retired in 2000 to Greenleaf, Kansas. Survivors include her daughter, Debbie le Roux and her husband, Marinus, and son Martin of Forgan, OK, their daughter Rebecca Hofstetter and her husband, Joshua of Austin, TX; her son, Dennis Milks and his wife, Becky, and their children, Ben and Hannah of Liberty, MO; siblings, Patricia (Duane) Klozenbucher, Greenleaf, Margaret (Edward) Boyd, Mesa, AZ, Lawrence Hogan, Hendersonville, NC, Virginia (Thomas) Sekinger, Annandale, VA, Robert (Pamela) Hogan, Hendersonville, NC, Harold (Ginger) Hogan, Topeka, and James Hogan, Greenleaf. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and infant sister, Ruth Marie. There was visitation for Mary Louise on Tuesday, March 8, at 6 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Greenleaf followed by a Rosary Reading at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 9 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greenleaf. Father David Metz officiated. Flutist Marian Seacat, played "Ave Maria" and "Amazing Grace." Sheila Ouellette was organist and the congregation sang "How Great Thou Art" and "On Eagles Wings." Pallbearers were Dennis Milks,Becky Milks,Benjamin Milks,Hannah Milks, Deborah leRoux, Martin leRoux, Marinus leRoux, Rebecca Hofstetter and Joshua Hofstetter. Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery, Kimeo. A second service was a Celebration of Life in Kansas City, Thursday, March 10 at 7pm at the McCrite Plaza in Briarcliff at 1201 NW Tullison Rd. Kansas City, MO 64116. A memorial fund has been established to the Kansas City Pet Project and Saint Michael's Catholic Church of Kimeo.
