Robert Dean Burton, 84, Washington, formerly of Haddam, died Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the Washington County Hospital. A funeral service was held 10 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Christian Church, Morrowville with Pastor Ron Brown officiating. Jenna, Trent and Aleah Staggenborg provided the prelude. Sheila Ouellette accompanied Ed Durst as he sang "How Great Thou Art" and Blessed Assurance." Honorary pallbearers were Fred Miller,David Ampe, Jim Burton, Dana Herrs, Corey Herrs, Stanford Stamm, Duane Durst, Darrel Portenier and Kurt Staggenborg. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery, Haddam. Bob was born on October 18, 1931 in Haddam to Raymond and Leone (Beem) Burton. He graduated from Washington High School in 1949 and attended Kansas State University. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Japan, working as a weather observer. On May 31, 1980, he was united in marriage to Patricia Eichman of Independence Missouri. Bob was a lifelong farmer and stockman, and raised Shorthorn and Limousin cattle. Bob was a faithful member of the Morrowville Christian Church and attended whenever possible. He took great comfort in reading the Psalms. Bob was an avid K-State fan, wearing the popular purple jacket and cap, and would watch K-State sports. He had a good memory for repeating jokes and loved to share with his friends. Bob had a knack for storytelling. Bob is survived by his sisters, Mary Ampe, Pasadena, TX, Cara (Lawrence) Herrs, Washington; sister-in-law, Debbie (Tim) Cochran, Independence, MO; brother-in-law, David (Dana) Eichman; and nieces and nephews, Glenda (Ampe) Wheeler, Kathy (Ampe) Hamm, Janet (Ampe) Endecott, David Ampe, all of Pasadena, TX, Dana Herrs, Washington, Angie (Herrs) Staggenborg, Marysville and Corey Herrs, Tucson, AZ. Preceding him in death were his parents; and his beloved wife, Pat in 2011. A memorial fund is established to the Morrowville Christian Church.
