Sandy "Nan" Herrs, 47, Washington, died Monday, November 30, 2015 at the KU Medical Center, Kansas City, KS. Visitation was from Noon until 5 p.m., Thursday, December 3, at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. Rosary service was 7 p.m., Thursday, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Washington. Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 4, St. Augustine Catholic Church. Father David Metz officiated. Carolyn Osbourne and Bob L’Ecuyer were the musicians and the hymns were “On Eagles Wings,” “Old Rugged Cross,” “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art.” Pallbearers were Josh Nutsch, Max Nutsch, Kolt Nutsch, Frank Nutsch, Brett Nutsch, Brandon Nutsch and Casey Stallbaumer. Honorary pallbearers were Larry and Stacy Lovgren and Angie Schwartz. Burial was in the St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Morrowville. Sandy was born on May 2, 1968 to Frank and Martha (L’Ecuyer) Nutsch at Fairbury, NE. She graduated from North Central High School in 1986 and earned an Associates Degree in Office Management Systems in 1988. Sandy went to work at a hospital typing transcripts and then as a secretary at North Central High School. In 1996, Sandy started her own quilting business. She also cooked and cleaned for Midwest Outfitters Hunting Lodge. On April 13, 2002, Sandy was united in marriage to Gene Herrs at Washington. They lived on a farm where she loved raising and riding horses and her dogs. Sandy also enjoyed making wedding cakes and scrapbooking. For relaxation, going to the lake would make her feel at peace. Sandy would always put others before herself. Survivors include her husband, Gene; parents, Frank and Martha, Morrowville; children, Jacob Beikman, Jeremy Beikman, Jordanna Beikman, Washington; brothers, Jim (Lori) Nutsch, Linn, Bob (Jennifer) Nutsch, Morrowville; Steve (Michelle) Nutsch, Riley; sister, Cindy Herrs, Morrowville; and mother-in-law, Lola Herrs, Linn. Memorial Fund is established to National Alopecia Areata Foundation (naaf.org) or donor’s choice. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
