Marilyn R. Mullen, 65, of Greenleaf, died Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 27, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greenleaf, Kansas. Father Jim Hoover and Sister Marily Wall officiated. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 26, at Ward Funeral Home in Greenleaf. Visitation was Monday, 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Marie Hoover played the organ and led the church choir. The music included “Here I Am Lord”, “Peace Is Flowing Like A River”, “You Are Mine”, “On Eagles Wings”, “May The Angels Be Your Guide” and “Be Not Afraid”. Marilyn was born July 31, 1943 at Fort Riley, KS. The daughter of Floyd and Delia (Poutre) Hammar. She attended grade school in Washington, KS. Her father was in the military so they moved to Washington State and California where she grew up. On October 20, 1973 she was united in marriage to Daniel R. Mullen at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greenleaf. Marilyn cooked for nursing homes and later owned and operated the Elite Café in Greenleaf with her husband. She was a member of the Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. Marilyn loved animals and had three dogs, Gretta, Sissy and Peanut. Survivors include her husband, Daniel Mullen of Greenleaf; one sister, Helen Whitlatch and husband Sam of Bay Point, CA; half-sister, Ziana Ryan of Florida; two nephews, Michael McGee and Steven McGee of California; two great-nephews, Nickolas McGee and Jason McGee; and one great-niece, Racheal McGee. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial fund has established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
