Ellen Pauline Patterson, 94, died January 25 at the Heritage Care Center, Fairbury, NE. Visitation was Thursday, January 29, from noon until 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home, Washington. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral was 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 30 at the Washington Christian Church, Washington. Pastor Jim Stark officiated. Gay Lynn Manning was the organist. The congregation sang "In the Garden", "Amazing Grace" and "Beyond the Sunset." Nate Behrends sang "Jesus Savior, Pilot Me" accompanied by Barb Bedlan. Pallbearers were, Tracy Tice, Darren Lucking, Meredith Tice, Ed Martin, Tim Tice, Neil Lucking, Paul Tice and Brandon Lucking. Honorary bearers were Darcy Tice, Alyssa Tice, Steve martin, Troy Tice, Bill Hascall II and Nathanial Tice. Burial was in the Morrowville Cemetery. Ellen was born January 15, 1921 near Haddam, KS the third daughter of Logan and Maude (Hagans) Stone. She attended country school, Belle District, and graduated from Haddam High School in 1938. Ellen attended business school in Topeka. While there she met and married Arthur Ben Tice in 1941. To this union five children were born, Judy, Ben II, Bob, Jody and Tom. They later divorced. Ellen returned to Washington County and met and married Robert Patterson in 1956. The lived near Morrowville and farmed until 1972, when they moved to Washington. Ellen was a seamstress at Lallys, Kellwoods and Swingsters in Fairbury, NE and she was a secretary for her husband, Bob, in his insurance and real estate office. She enjoyed gardening, canning and growing flowers, bowling and dancing. Ellen earned her pilots license and loved flying planes. In her retirement, she enjoyed visiting and babysitting with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending their celebrations, graduations and appreciating their accomplishments. Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Ben Tice and Bob Patterson; son, Bob Tice; siblings, Josephine Graves, Margaret Nespor, Francis Stone, Esther Ruth Stone; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Survivors include children, Judy (Bill) Hascall,Ridgedale, MO, Ben (Nancy) Tice, Morrowville, Jody (Clyde) Lucking, Fairbury, NE, Tom (Martha) Tice, Centreville, VA; daughter-in-law, Sue Tice, Belleville; step-children, Juanita Rice, Fairmont, NE, James (Alane) Patterson, Mountain Home, AR, Claire (Ron) Perkins, McCool Junction, NE; fourteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, a great great-granddaughter; eight step-grandchildren, many step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Fund: Established to be designated later by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.
