Phyllis Anna Jennings

Phyllis Anna (Fraser) Jennings, 84, died January 7, 2006 at the Belleville Healthcare Center in Belleville, KS, where she had resided for nearly a year. She was born December 8, 1921 in Morrowville, the middle daughter of Lyle and Muriel (Tipton) Fraser. Mrs. Jennings attended Grandview Rural School and Morrowville Rural High School. On August 28, 1940, she married Guy Jennings in Smith Center. The couple lived in Morrowville. While Guy was in the Air Force during World War II, Phyllis taught school and worked for Boeing in Wichita. After his service was over, they returned to Morrowville. She worked at Synovec’s Grocery Store and worked part-time at the Morrowville Post Office. They moved to Wichita where she worked for the post office, then worked at McConnell Air Force Base for the Staff Judge Advocate beginning in 1959. She was transferred to the Air Force office at Boeing the following year and worked there until her retirement in 1982. They moved back to Morrowville in 1982. Phyllis and Guy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 28, 1990. She was a member of the Morrowville United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Jennings was preceded in death by her husband, Guy; her parents, Lyle and Muriel Fraser; and four brothers-in-law; James Lindsley, Devere Lindsley, Max West, and Henry Rollman. Survivors include two sisters; Loraine Lindsley, Morrowville, and Faith Lindsley, Washington; two sisters-in-law, Ruby West, Fairmont, NE and Reva Rollman, Morrowville; nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held January 10, 2006, at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor Ron Brown will officiate. Ed Durst will be soloist and Della Goldsberry the pianist. Casket bearers are her nephews, Lanny Lindsley, Kelly Lindsley, James Patterson, Lonnie Taylor, Rex Zenger, Ron Perkins, and Don Lacey. Burial will be in the Morrowville Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established to the Kansas Specialty Dog Services in Washington. Ward Funeral Home, Washington, handled the arrangements.
