Roine M. Tegethoff, 66, of Washington, KS, died Tuesday morning, August 12, 2008, at the Washington County Hospital in Washington, KS. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 15, 2008, at the Washington Christian Church. Pastor John Frey officiated. Dennis Portenier was the pianist. He played "How Great Thou Art". Pallbearers were Jim Dodds, Rick Svanda, Jerry Pierce, Paul Stewart, Vernon Tegethoff and Donald Richardson. Roine was born June 11, 1942, at Hanover, KS, the daughter of Henry and Malinda (Maatsch) Rippe. On February 27, 1960, she married Forrest Tegethoff at Hanover. Roine was a seamstress at home while her children were growing up and began working in the Washington County Treasurer's office on October 27, 1986, and later became Deputy Treasurer. Roine took office as County Treasurer on April 13, 1999, and remained there until her death. She was a member of the Washington Christian Church and the Kansas Republican Women. Roine lived for her children and her grandchildren. She enjoyed working with the public at her job as County Treasurer and will be missed by many friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Wilmer Rippe. Survivors include her husband, Forrest of Washington; two sons, Rick Tegethoff and wife Julie of Washington, Randy Tegethoff and wife Syri of Newton; two daughters, Kelli Tegethoff of Washington, and Tamie Tegethoff of Belleville; two brothers, Norman Rippe and wife Darlene of Smith Center, and Lawrence Rippe of Marysville; two sisters, Laura Allerheiligen and husband Darrell of Waverly, NE, and Janice Walley of Wichita; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington, KS.
