Raymond Kolle, 87, passed away Friday, July 25, 2008, at Linn, Kansas after suffering from a stroke on May 25th. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2008, at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. The Rev. Steven Kahrs officiated. Nancy Krueger played the organ while the congregation sang "What a Friend We Have In Jesus", "Abide With Me" and "I Am But a Stranger Here". Pallbearers were Jim Kolle, Royce Kolle, Brady Kolle, Austin Harrison, Robert Haley and Nathan Haley. Honorary pallbearers were Elmer Kolle, Delmar Koenecke, Lyman Lyle, Hugh Lyle, Larry Stigge, John Stigge, Jr., Robert Jewell and Merrill McCue. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Raymond was born August 3, 1920, at Palmer, Kansas, the son of John and Louise (Kaiser) Kolle. He was baptized into the Christian faith on August 8, 1920 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Palmer by Pastor H.J.A. Brede. His sponsors were Henry Kaiser, August Rogge, and Carl Lange. Raymond was confirmed in the Christian faith on April 9, 1933 at Zion Lutheran Church, Linn by Pastor Karsten. On November 16, 1941 he was united in marriage to Selma Neimann at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hanover by Pastor W. Mahler. Raymond and Selma shared 66 years of marriage and were blessed with two sons. Raymond spent his life farming and enjoyed spending time with his family. Raymond was a very devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather and he will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Vernon Dean. Survivors include his wife Selma of the home; one son, Dennis Kolle and wife Ella of Greenfield, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Kolle of Washington; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a various number of family and friends. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
