­­­Phil Clark, 90, of Topeka and formerly of Linn, Kan., died Thursday, April 24, at Hillsdale Place in Topeka.Visitation was Sunday, April 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Linn.Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m., Monday, April 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greenleaf, Kan.  Father David Metz officiated.  Sheila Ouellette played the organ while the choir sang “How Great Thou Art”, “Peace Is Flowing Like a River”, “Song of Farewell” and “Amazing Grace”.The pallbearers were his grandsons, Travis Clark, Corey Clark, Brady Clark, Brett Clark, Brian Clark, Ryan Strong, Nathan Rutter, Jesse Clark, Dakota Clark, Kyle Simmons and Matthew Clark.Phil was born on March 22, 1924 near Barnes, Kan., to Merritt E. and Edna M. (Bledsoe) Clark. Phil graduated from Barnes High School and graduated from both Kansas University and Washburn University. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.Phil worked as a claims supervisor for Iowa Mutual Insurance. He worked in Lincoln, NE, Hutchinson, Liberal, and in Iowa.On September 14, 1950, he married Marie Lohmeyer at St. John’s Catholic Church in Lawrence, Kan. After his retirement in 1988, they moved to Linn. Phil was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.Phil liked fishing and trapping with the children, he enjoyed hunting squirrels, reading and gardening.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie; son, Michael; and five brothers, Floyd, Lyle, Edwin, David and Dennis Clark.Survivors include five sons, William (Cathy) Clark, Phillip (Patricia) Clark, all of Hiawatha, Kan., John (Dianne) Clark, Topeka, Richard Clark, Kansas City, and Joseph (Maggie) Clark, Belgrade, Mont.; two daughters, Janice (Kenneth) Rutter and Janet Clark, all of Tucson, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.A memorial fund has been established to the Alzheimer’s Association or Grace Hospice.
