Dean Nutsch

June 21, 1960 — July 15, 2008

Dean P. Nutsch, 48, died July 15, 2008 at the Republic County Hospital, Belleville. He had recently been diagnosed with cancer. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Ward Funeral Home, Washington. Pastor Randy Jellison-Knock officiated. The music selections were “Live Like You Were Dyin’ by Tim McGraw and “Pop a Top" by Alan Jackson. Burial was in the Haddam City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Les Gauby, Paul Dague, “Pork” Alldredge, Don Welch, Tony Heiman, Willard Zenger and Randy Prellwitz. Honorary bearers were his nieces and nephews. Dean was born June 21, 1960, at Belleville, Kansas, the son of Alfred and O’Leta (Kirkpatrick) Nutsch. He was a heavy equipment operator, over the road truck driver and farmed with his dad and brother. He built ponds, terraces and did road construction. He loved playing in the dirt – work and hanging with family and friends. Dean was ornery and loved joking around with friends and family. He really enjoyed his nieces and nephews and taking them to tractor pulls in Washington and Republic counties. On April 27, 1979, Dean was united in marriage to Karen Bernasek at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Fairbury, Ne. She survives. He is also survived by his mother, O’Leta of Haddam; brother, Perry Nutsch and wife Deb of Washington; sister, Sharon Rogge of Solomon; a host of nieces and nephews; and 1 great nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred; and niece, Charity Reeves. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated by the family at a later time.
