Marvin Gould, 89, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the Centennial Homestead Nursing Home, Washington. A graveside funeral service was at 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 24 at Brethren Cemetery, Washington. Rev. David Andrews officiated. Burial was in the Brethren Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leon Rumsey, Alfred Andrews, Jerry Andrews, Keith Andrews, Randy Gould and Dr. Jim Smart. Marvin was born June 29, 1924 in Washington County to Joseph and Bertha (Gauby) Gould. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Washington. Marvin worked for the City of Washington, then worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for thirty years. He was united in marriage to Iris Gauby on June 23, 1983 at Washington. Woodworking and construction were some of Marvin’s favorite pastimes. He enjoyed having coffee and visiting at the local coffee shop and walking. Surviving him is his wife, Iris; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Ralph Gould and Raymond Gould; sisters, Audrey Andrews, Irma Andrews and Neva Andrews; brothers-in-law, John Andrews, Harold Andrews and Earl Andrews. A memorial fund is established and will be designated by the family later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
