LaDean Rae Herrs, 68, of Rural Linn, was called to her heavenly home Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the Linn Community Nursing Home. The Lord had blessed her with 68 years and 9 days. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Zion Lutheran Church in Linn. Pastor David Gruoner officiated. Visitation was Monday, June 9, from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Linn. The family received friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Eunice Beier played the organ while the congregation sang “How Great Thou Art”, “Just As I Am” and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives”. Pallbearers were nephews, Gary Oehmke, Terry Oehmke, Randy Oehmke, Larry Beikmann, Darren True, Mark True, Brian True, Daniel True, David True, Jeff True, and Patrick True. Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren, Quentin Herrs, Angie Rogge, Brett Herrs, Jenna Lehman, Brent Lehman, Chelsey Herrs, Tyler Herrs, Lindsey Herrs, Macey Dieckmann, and Kirsten Dieckmann. Burial was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. LaDean was born May 28, 1940, in Steele City, Nebraska, to Ernest and Hilda Oestreich True. She attended Zion Lutheran School in Linn. On April 11, 1954, she confirmed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in the rite of confirmation at Zion Lutheran Church, under the Rev. Walter G. Biel. She graduated from Linn Rural High School in 1958 as class salutatorian. On August 31, 1958, she was united in marriage to Harvey Herrs at Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. Eugene Eckhardt. The couple was blessed with four children, Kent, Jayne, Dean and Lisa. Together, LaDean and Harvey lived west of Linn where they farmed and she was the bookkeeper for the family farm. She loved baking, gardening, and quilting but especially loved attending her children's and later her grandchildren's activities. Many of her nieces and nephews enjoyed spending the summer helping on the family farm. LaDean enjoyed being a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family farm. She also had a love of baking, gardening, quilting, and especially her love of attending her children and grandchildren’s activities. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Linn, the Dorcas Society and the Prayer Chain. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest True in 1984 and Hilda True in 1991; infant sister Mary Ann True in 1934; infant brother Robert Gene True in 1939; sisters, Patricia True in 1962 and Jeralee Beikmann in 1996; infant grandson, Jaden Dieckmann in 2002; father-in law, Marvin Herrs in 1999; and mother-in-law, Clara Herrs in 2001. She is survived by her husband, Harvey Herrs of the home; sons Kent Herrs and wife Joleen, and Dean Herrs and wife Connie, all of Linn, KS; daughters, Jayne Lehman and husband Donald of Linn, and Lisa Dieckmann and husband Brad of Clay Center, KS; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; one sister, Donette Oehmke and husband, Harold of Linn, KS; three brothers, Bill True and wife Connie of Yakima, WS, Noel True and wife Linda of Washington, KS, and Neal True and wife Ruth of Downs, KS; brother-in-law, Raymond Beikmann of Independence, MO; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Linn.
