Doris Marie Woodward, 63, of Linn, KS, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at her home in Linn. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2008, at the Linn United Methodist Church, in Linn, KS. Rev. Randy Jellison-Knock officated. Burial was in the Linn City Cemetery. Sheila Ouellette played the organ while Dr. Jim Smart sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art". The congregation sang "In the Garden". Pallbearers were Gary Wiese, Kurtis Dittmer, Ryan Oestreich, Jason Long, Steve Landis and Orville Loeffler. Doris was born December 14, 1944 at Washington, KS, the daughter of Harold “Mike” and Leona Collier. She attended school in Washington. On March 18, 1961, she was united in marriage to Donald Owen Woodward, at the United Methodist Church, in Fairbury, Nebraska. This union was blessed with one son, Karle, and four daughters; Donna, Annette, Lisa, and Tonya. Doris was baptized into God’s family on December 6, 1992, at the Linn United Methodist Church. Doris worked at Brown Drugstore during high school and also worked at Esterbrook’s Café, Margie’s Bar, Mom and Pop Restaurant, Endicott Clay and the Washington Nursing Home. When Doris and Don moved to Linn, she took up childcare and looked after several children around town. Two of these children, Colby and Clinton Wiese, were very special to her. Doris loved to cook, take care of her home, and adored her basset hound, Elvis. Doris also enjoyed going on several trips with Don on their motorcycles. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Dona Herrman. Doris is survived by her husband Donald, one son, Karle Woodward and wife Anne of Topeka, KS; four daughters: Donna Myers and husband Mike, of Lawrence, KS, Annette Key and husband Ron, of Cullman, AL, Lisa Schaaf and husband Rick, of Uniontown, KS, and Tonya Foster and husband Lewis, of Lawrence, KS; twenty-six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and her dog Elvis. A memorial fund has been established. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
