Grace A. Kolman

September 22, 1921 — April 4, 2008

Grace Anna Kolman, 86, passed away Friday, April 4, 2008, at the Linn Nursing Home. A funeral service was at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 12, at the Christian Church in Morrowville, KS. Pastor Ron Brown officiated. Pat Burton played the organ while Dan Grove, Don Grove, David Grove, and Dewayne Grove sang “Old Rugged Cross” and “In The Garden” Pallbearers were David Kitts, Dan Grove, James Wall, Michael Kitts, David Grove, Joseff Kolman, Dewayne Grove, and Randall Kolman. Burial was in the Morrowville Cemetery. Grace was born Sept. 22, 1921, at Wilbur, Neb., the daughter of Frank and Agnes Vesely. She was baptized into the Christian faith at the Morrowville Christian Church, where she was a long time member and taught 3rd thru 5th grade Sunday School class for 32 years. On May 28, 1941, she married Jerry Kolman at Wilbur, Neb. They shared most of their married life farming north of Morrowville. They were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary prior to her husband's death on Nov. 4, 1991. She served as 4-H Clothing Leader for many years, elected member of Morrowville School Board, member of the Morrowville Community Club, Morrowville Home Extension Unit, and Morrowville Housing Authority. She worked as a cook at the 15 & 36 Cafe and retired from Swingsters with over 20 years of service. In her retirement years she became a quilter with family members being grateful recipients. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Victor and Joe Vesely; four sister, Helen Drevo, Irma Horacek, Arline Hoover, and Delores Kennedy; one great-grandson, Ryan Fleming, and son-in-law, Jim Wall. Survivors include eight children, Carol Hoffman and husband Thaine of Topeka, KS, Rose Shoulder of Topeka, Dorothy Grove and husband Don of Morrowville, Jerry Kolman and wife Julie of Yorba Linda, CA, Barbara Wall of Bartlesville, OK, Leslie Kolman and wife Marilyn of Plymouth, NE, Allan Kolman of Tyler, TX, and Kelly Kolman and wife Jennifer of Savannah, GA; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established and contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, 115 W 2nd, Washington, KS 66968.
