Dale L. Biegert, 85, of Washington, KS, died Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the Homestead Nursing Home, Washington. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 14, at Ward Funeral Home, Washington. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, February 15, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Washington. Pastor Judy Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Washington City Cemetery. Dale Leroy Biegert was born on February 14, 1927 to David D. and Lilly (Snyder) Biegert at Salina. In 1936 the family moved to Washington and Dale graduated from Washington High School in 1945. Dale went to work for Kansas Power & Light in May of 1944 until he entered the Navy in 1945. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to his job with KP&L, retiring in 1988. Dale made clocks from retired orifice meters, collected die cast cars and eagles, and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. He liked to travel and was able to travel to all fifty states, Canada, Mexico and Nova Scotia. Dale was a member of the American Legion. On July 8, 1949, he married Ruby Bartels at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Parsonage, Greenleaf. She preceded him in death on January 16, 2006. Dale was also preceded in death by his parents.
