CLARENCE R. SMITH WASHINGTON – Clarence Robert Smith 81, died at his home, September 22, 2005. He was born February 15, 1924 at Crete, NE to Peter C. and Helen (Strelow) Smith. Clarence was a diesel mechanic and worked for the City of Washington. On March 15, 1958, he married Yvonne Pilon at St. Albins, VT. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, son Lester Smith on August 19, 2002; and three brothers, Martin, William and Lester Smith. He is survived by his wife Yvonne; four daughters, Linda Brown and husband Kenton, Clyde, Ks, Mary Goodwin, address unknown, Martha Smith, Washington, KS, Cindy Wood, Hugoton, KS; two brothers, Robert Smith and wife Betty, Alexandria, NE, Leo Smith and wife Sally, Ohiopyle, PA; three sisters, Mildred Kreuzberg, Lincoln, NE, Esther Schiermeyer and husband Kay, Orion, IL, Helen Smith, Imperial, NE; and 8 grandchildren. Funeral Mass was held Monday, September 26, 2005 at the St. Augustine Catholic Church, Washington. Father James Hoover and Sister Marilyn Wall officiated. Burial was in St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Cemetery, Morrowville. Casket bearers were, Lawrence Herrs, Leon Rumsey, Logan Brown, Garth Wood, Robert Shivers, Kenton Brown, Joseph Brown, and Dusty Bonar. A memorial fund has been established to be designated by the family at a later date.
