Lucille K. Kongs

Lucille K. Kongs, 90, of Washington, passed away at the Washington County Hospital on Sunday, January 20, 2008. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 24, 2008, at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Washington. Father Jim Hoover and Sister Marilyn Hoover officiated. Con-celebrants were Father Gary Pennings and Father John Wolesky. Gina Miller played the organ while Veronica Kongs sang. The songs were "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", "Tis the Gift to be Simple", "Prayer of St. Francis", and "Celtic Song of Farewell". Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Survivors include husband, Joseph Kongs, of Washington; one son, Mike Kongs, of Washington; and three daughters, Barb Hawkins, of Marysville, Joan Huber, of Leawood, and Kathy Clark, of Washington; one brother, Joseph Welsh, of Osakais, Minn.; eleven grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to St. Augustine's Catholic Church. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
