EUNICE A. GEORGE, 94, Washington, died, Friday, February 25, 2005, at the Washington County Hospital, Washington. She was born January 31, 1911 at her parent’s home in Washington, Ks. The daughter of Maude (Walker) and Ernest Albert Ward. She worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell and also was a assistant funeral director and worked many years for both the Ward Funeral Home and D.A. Ward & Sons furniture store. (Her father and grandfather started D.A. Ward & Sons in 1884.) After graduating from Washington High School in 1932, she attended two years of college in Illinois. She was a member of the United Methodist church of Washington. She was married Sept. 3, 1935 in Marysville, Ks. to Arthur J. George. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters Marian Lobaugh and her husband Farel and Alice Bowdish and her husband Glen. She is survived by her son John & wife JoAnn of Washington, three grandsons Ernie of Lawrence, Jim of Manhattan and Tim and wife Becca and two great grandchildren Jenna L and Timothy J. of Baldwin City. Four nieces Mary Alice Pacey, Washington, Barbara Houghton and husband Jim of Tulsa, OK., Jackie Driscoll and husband Bob of Colorado Springs and Nancy Schmutte and husband Rick of Roca, Ne. Funeral Services were held at 10:30 am Monday, February 28, 2005 at The United Methodist church of Washington. The Rev. Phil Morris officiated. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery, Washington. Casket bearers were Tim George, Jim George, Ernie George, Rick Driscoll, Ricky Schmutte, and Travis Kier. Memorial fund have been established for the United Methodist Church building fund.
