Mooneen E. Sloan, 72, of Greenleaf, KS, died Friday, October 11, 2012 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Monday, October 15, at Ward Funeral Home, Greenleaf. Pastor Sandra Jellison-Knock officiated. A private burial was held in the Greenleaf City Cemetery. Mooneen was born May 20, 1940, at Beatrice, NE, daughter of O.C. and Doris (McKissik) Warren. In 1958, she graduated from Beatrice High School and then attended 2 years of college at Fairbury, NE. On April 23, 1965 she married James Sloan at Beatrice. Mooneen enjoyed working with everyone at Twin Valley Developmental in Greenleaf. She loved all of her grandchildren and family get-togethers. Mooneen also enjoyed reading, cooking, crocheting, and riding around the country. Her grandchildren remember her as the strongest woman they ever knew and always waking up with a smile even when she was having a bad day. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Debrah Woods Flower and Janeen "Ky" Woods Thompson; son, James E. Sloan; brother, Michael Warren; and grandson, Jamie Sloan. Survivors include her husband, James; two sons, John (Brenda) Woods, Salina, KS, and Michael Sloan, Topeka, KS; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
