Washington, KS – Bernice I. Hyland, age 87 of Linn, KS and former resident of Washington, KS died July 7, 1905 at Washington. She was born June, 9, 1918 at Cloud County, KS and was the daughter of Charles E. and Mabel (Driscoll) Bonebrake. Bernice was united in marriage to Herbert N. Hyland on October 30, 1938 at Washington, KS and she was a legal secretary for many years for her husband and was also a homemaker. She was a member of the Washington United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star and the Kansas Republican Women’s Association. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Otis, Buford and Eugene Bonebrake; one granddaughter. She is survived by her husband Herbert of Linn, KS; 2 sons, Thomas E. Hyland and wife Charlene of Stillwell, KS and Patrick Hyland and wife Leslie of Fort Collins, CO; one brother, Rex Bonebrake and wife Ethel of California; 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2005 at the Washington United Methodist Church with Rev. Phil Morris officiating. Interment will be held at the Washington City Cemetery. Memorials established to the Washington United Methodist Church or to the donors choice of charity in care of the Ward Funeral Home in Washington.
